4 February 1990 NOTE: This letter to the Los Angeles Times was not published, but it was so brilliantly conceived and executed (I don't mind saying so!) I had to include it here. The letter refers to the fact that Assembly Member Gil Ferguson, in his apology for using the word "faggot" in public, claimed that he didn't know the epithet was offensive to anyone.
Dear EDITOR, If Assemblyman Gil Ferguson really doesn't know the term "faggot" is offensive (when used by an avowed heterosexual) (Times, Feb. 4), then he won't mind my disagreeing with his agenda by calling him an "asshole".
Very Sincerely, PS. He probably spells it "fagit". | ![]() |
