28 April 1998 Los Angeles Times original article: Bank Robber Bled to Death Unnecessarily, L.A. Times, 21 April 1998 following letters: Bank Robber's Shooting Death, L.A. Times, 24 April 1998 All three letters (April 24) used unacceptable lynch-mob logic to reach their conclusions that Emil Matasareanu deserved to bleed to death because of his illegal actions.
